Agus Astawa

Agus Astawa is a young boy whose early life was marked by hardship and uncertainty. His father disappeared when he was very young, while his mother has been living with a severe mental illness that left her unable to provide the care and stability every child needs. As a result, Agus often experienced neglect and, at times, physical abuse. For much of his childhood, he was cared for by his elderly grandfather, who did everything he could despite his own limitations.
Agus is also a child with autism, which made it even more difficult for him to communicate and adapt in such an unstable environment. Without the support he needed, he was unable to attend school and missed many of the opportunities that most children take for granted.
Everything began to change when Agus was welcomed into YKPA. Surrounded by patient caregivers, a structured routine, and a loving community, he slowly started to flourish. With consistent care and ongoing therapy, he has made remarkable progress. Today, he is able to communicate much more clearly, express his emotions more confidently, and gradually build meaningful relationships with the people around him.
Although Agus continues to receive medical treatment and specialized support, his days are now filled with greater peace, stability, and joy. He especially enjoys spending time with his friends at YKPA, particularly Frengki and Janu. Through their friendship, he has discovered the simple happiness of playing, laughing, and feeling accepted.
The smile that now appears on Agus’ face more often is a beautiful reminder of how love, patience, and understanding can transform a child’s life. Every small step he takes is a meaningful victory, and each day brings new opportunities for him to grow with confidence and hope.
Today, Agus is surrounded by people who believe in his potential and celebrate every achievement, no matter how small. With continued care, education, and the support of compassionate people, he is building a future filled with dignity, happiness, and the chance to reach his fullest potential.
